Biomechanical Assessment

Biomechanical Assessment

What is a Biomechanical Assessment?

Biomechanical Assessment is a clinical evaluation that focuses on understanding the movement patterns and mechanical function of the lower limbs, particularly in relation to the feet. This assessment is often recommended for individuals experiencing ongoing foot pain. The primary goal of this assessment is to identify any abnormalities or dysfunctions in movement that may be contributing to your pain.

The Biomechanical Assessment Process

During a Biomechanical Assessment, we will gather the following information:

Patient History: The assessment begins with gathering information about any pain you are experiencing, what may have caused it, how long you’ve had it and how it affects your daily life.

Observation: We will closely check your joints range and quality of motion. Additionally we will assess foot posture when weight bearing and non-weight bearing. This includes an analysis of your gait during movement.

Treatment options may include:
. Custom orthotics or insoles designed to correct specific gait issues.
. Footwear advice tailored to support your needs.
. Exercises aimed at improving strength and flexibility.
. Referrals for additional care from physiotherapists if necessary.
